Sore throat is the most common throat disorder. It is often caused by common cold/flu.

The other reasons include allergies, infection (viral or bacterial), smoking etc. A person suffering from sore throat basically experiences pain in the throat and difficulty in swallowing. It might also be accompanied by fever.

Sore throat affects people of all ages however the occurrence of sore throat is high in certain people like children, smokers, people who are allergic and people who have a weak immune system.

  • Salt water gargling
  • Drinking hot water with honey and lemon
  • Inhaling plain water steam

Preventing a sore throat

There are certain hygiene measures one can take to avoid contacting infection and getting a sore throat:

  • Drink enough fluids to prevent dehydration

  • Avoid smoking and passive smoking
